Why is Oriental Offensive?
Are you sure that you want to delete this answer? To me, using the word "Oriental" to describe people is an outdated term from the days when "The Orient" was a mystical, exotic land where everyone had slanted eyes and wore silk. Asian is supposed to refer to people and Oriental to things. The name was still in use in the censuses and on the first Ordnance Survey maps during the early 19thc. Proudly powered by WordPress. Description: I think this first got started by people who were offended by the word but didn't know why because they mistakenly thought the word had something to do with carpets, or mystery, or was only properly applied to objects. That was one of the main bills, which prohibits drivers from texting. A funny thing I noticed is that my Caucasian dare I say Occidental? Whether or not something is offensive is determined by whomever might be offended by it.
